At Western University of Health Sciences, where Dr. Kamel earned his medical degree, he graduated near the top of class with honors, including induction into the Pi Delta Honor Society. He was also elected and served as Chief Resident in his final year of residency, and went on to complete additional intensive surgical training, earning a credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery (PMSR/RRA).

During his residency, Dr. Kamel worked at a variety of hospitals on the forefront of his field—most notably sports medicine training at Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, as well as a high-level trauma rotation at Kaiser Permanente under some of the best surgeons in the profession.

To his practice in Southern California, Dr. Kamel brings extensive surgical training in all aspects of the foot and ankle, from sports medicine and trauma to forefoot and rearfoot reconstructions. This includes flatfoot correction, bunion correction, cosmetic surgery, pediatric foot conditions, and cartilage restoration, as well as surgical treatment of degenerative and arthritic conditions affecting the foot and ankle.

Dr. Kamel is an athletic person who competed in various contact sports growing up, including football, basketball, baseball and soccer, and has sustained many injuries himself. This has given him first-hand knowledge of both the physical and psychosocial pain of injury from the patient’s perspective. As a result, he believes in bringing together extensive nonsurgical treatment options as well as advanced surgical techniques to help patients return to their previous form of function and activity.

As a researcher and practitioner, Dr. Kamel has co-authored and published several articles contributing to the field of foot and ankle surgery. He lectures at national conferences on topics related to sports medicine, great toe arthritis, and complex foot and ankle fracture repair.
